How does gematria calculator work

Gematria is an ancient Jewish practice that assigns numerical values to words or phrases. Gematria is used in the Bible to aid its interpretation, with words that have similar numerical values suggesting deeper significance. Fortunately, calculators are now available to quickly and easily calculate gematria.

When using a gematria calculator, the first step is to type in the original Hebrew or Aramaic words of a phrase or sentence. It is important to ensure that all of the proper nouns are spelled correctly as even minor errors can drastically change the numerical value of a word. Additionally, any vowels present in the text should be included, as these can have significant numerical contributions to a given sentence or phrase. Once all of the information has been entered properly, the calculator will be able to determine the entire value for each word found in a phrase in order to determine its overall value.

Generally speaking, each letter of an alphabet corresponding with its own unique numeric value ranging from 1-400 depending on which version of gematria is being used (Hebrew gematria generally utilize numbers 1-9 while Greek gematria uses figures ranging from 1-400). Once all of these values are accounted for in a sentence or phrase, these numbers will be added together to generate a resulting numeric summary for it. This number can then be used for comparison purposes with other words and phrases. In some cases, this number can also provide additional insight into certain scriptures and stories found within religious texts such as The Bible and The Torah.
